After the holidays are over and the decorations are put away, a deep clean is just what your home needs!
We’ve put together a deep clean checklist to ensure your home is squeaky clean for 2019! If you’re feeling ambitious, tackle them all at once this weekend, or take on each item one at a time! In addition to regular cleaning, give your home some extra love with these deep clean tips!
Open all drawers and remove the contents. Throw away expired medications and old products, but before placing products back in, wipe down the inside of all cabinets/shelves to remove dust and hair. Mop the floors and dust all lighting fixtures. Wash towels, rugs, and shower curtains.
Strip the beds and wash the sheets, comforters, and pillows. When was the last time you vacuumed your closet floor or under the bed? Tackle that now, along with hard to reach corners that are typically skipped over during regular vacuuming. If you never clean your mattress, simply clean it with baking soda! Sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress, let it sit for an hour, and then vacuum it up after it has worked its magic. Look through your closet and donate anything that hasn’t been used or worn in the past year!
Dust and vacuum furniture, turning over cushions as needed and checking them for stains or repairs. If they need it, get your carpets professionally cleaned. Wash any pillows or throws that haven’t been washed in a while. Dust or clean any lighting fixtures.
Create a list of repairs or maintenance that needs to be scheduled, such as handy man services, chimney cleaning, or a professional for electrical or plumbing issues.
The kitchen is known as the heart of the home, a gathering place for friends and family. Open cabinets and drawers, remove contents, and scrub the front of the cabinets with hot soapy water. Also wipe down the stove area and the inside of all appliances, including the microwave and fridge. Wash any area rugs, towels, sponges, etc.
Sit down and enjoy your clean, fresh home! By starting your New Year’s cleaning now, you can start off on the right foot and continue to maintain your homes cleanliness all year long. We hope you have a wonderful, clean Happy New Year!
